I like to know how much time I have left on my laptop battery in Ubuntu. It’s nice to see the time remaining in the corner of the screen.

Sure, the default applet shows the time on hover, but hey: this is Linux. Why shouldn’t it work how I want it to?

In addition to some display options, this little applet does a bit more. It lets you adjust CPU frequency scaling, which balances speed with power consumption, view details and history about battery use, and easily access Ubuntu’s power management settings.

To install, run:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:iaz/battery-status

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install battery-status
